“If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things…” – Albert Einstein
We are preparing to let a year-end and another one to begin. The coming year 2019; holds surprises, losses, sadness, joy, kindness, happiness, and memories to cherish. Some of us will make new friends and some of us will release friends. There will be weddings and divorces, births and deaths.
How will you plan for 2019?
What action do you need to take to implement your plan?
What goals are you setting?
How will you contribute to life in general?
How does the big picture in your life look?
What are you letting go of?
I want to share with you a process of deeply looking within and answering the following questions. There does not need to be a surprise in 2019. You as a Divine Essence of God have the power to manifest your heart’s desire.
“Courage doesn’t happen when you have all the answers. It happens when you are ready to face the questions you have been avoiding your whole life…” – Shannon L. Alder
Who do you believe you are?
In life daily, who do you show to others, that you are?
Do you have boundaries set?
How accepting are you?
How rejecting are you?
Who and what do you let in? Why?
Who and what do you keep out? Why?
Who are you connecting to through communication in your world?
What kind of relationships are you forming?
What engages you in life?
Are you learning something new?
Is your life coherent?
Are you creating wholeness around yourself?
“We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect…” – Anais Nin
I have been witness to the power of taking pen to paper since I learned how to write. A form of the depth of discovery of self becomes insightful as one goes within. We as a society are bombarded by the beliefs of a world that is an illusion. The truth of self waits to be awakened by the action of our thought process.
In 2004, I received the words; “find that whichcreates freedom of thought!” Hmm, I thought to myself what does that mean? I was clueless! I was enticed by the words especially ‘creates freedom!’ The journey began and I learned through the discovery of self that I had certain beliefs and truths that were gifts of mine to embrace. I learned to disengage from anything that was no longer serving me
After answering the above questions, may we all embrace the new year with a sense of belief, knowledge, and discovery of our truth of self? We as a society of human beings are desirous of a plan to move forward. The truth is that if there is no action taken there can be no freedom from the despair in our lives. There is a part of us that seeks a form of personal growth and self-mastery in our lives. The truth of who we are is in the answers we discover as we go within.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that…” – Martin Luther King Jr.
In reflection, as I embrace the coming year 2019, I must admit I have lived the simple words of the above sentence to “find that whichcreates freedom of thought!” Connecting to the light within through the written word allowed me to create a life filled with freedom when I changed my thought process about myself, my life and others. I decided to choose love period.
We as a society struggle daily with the news, politics, and relationships in our personal choices. How can we be responsible, excited, in harmony and creative within our own lives? I have developed these golden rules to unravel the fear, guilt, shame, and grief that followed me in my life since a young child. It is an interesting journey the path we travel when we are aligned with our soul’s truth. In doing so, we nourish and nurture the part of ourselves that falls into the category of self-love.
The Golden Rules for Personal Growth Stimulation and Self-Mastery are:
“And into the forest, I go, to lose my mind and find my soul…” – sun-gazing.com
Interestingly enough, the first golden rule that I developed was to connect to Mother Nature. A simple, free inclusion into a daily life of being outside in any form that we will benefit from. A walk around the block. Sitting under a tree or as a child, I use to climb trees in a park near my home with my brother. If I remember correctly, I think we actually named our trees.
At a young age, I learned never to disrespect Mother Nature. Swimming at the beach was a favorite, walking along the waters edge breathing in the salt air even captivated me later in life. Sunbathing is a time when we can relax and let the sun warm our bodies. Hiking in the woods as well as sitting in the woods are simple and effective for the changes we desire in life The act of being outside a few times a week away from electronics and breathing in the elements of earth, water, fire, and air are part of a significant golden rule. This golden rule allows us to be clear of mind and not to make assumptions in life.
“Prayer does not fit us for the greater work: prayer is the greater work…” – Oswald Chambers
Raised by any kind of religion that is our foundation comes with prayers. Praying connects us to the Divine Intelligence that we believe. Any positive word of love, and joy, as well as a blessing bestowed on another, is a form of prayer. Yes, we all have our favorites but when we acknowledge that our thoughts manifest our lives we pay attention to the words in our mind and the words that fall out of our mouths as a form of prayer. There are three superpowers that we all possess: thought, word, and action!
Growing up I never understood why people were mean and hateful with their words. I was very conscious always of how hurt I would become when someone was vicious, mean, critical or condescending to me. It filled me with a ‘zap’ of fear, guilt, and shame that lasted for years. I felt that I had done something wrong. I learned through the act of prayer to be the best that I could be in life. By paying attention to my own thoughts, words and actions I have changed my life for the better. Simply by switching from a negative thought to a positive thought takes a second. If I catch myself with words filling my mind that are not positive, I repeat three times, cancel, clear, delete!
“We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect…” – Anais-nin
The benefit of the third golden rule is when we take a pen to paper in a journal. As a form of release and detaching from the fears, of guilt and shame that I experienced it was my greatest moments in life that I adhered to as soon as I could write.
The simplicity of talking to oneself in a book through the written word and releasing what did not serve me helped me to understand human nature and why people spoke and acted the way they did. Yesterday I was clueless about the power of the ego that dwells in the realm of fear. Many in my life were fearful and projected this unto me as a child. In my journal, I could release the fear and heal myself. It was a journey of going within to discover my truth and to not take anything personally.
Writing has many forms besides keeping a journal! You can keep a Goals Book, and a To Do List Book. Every morning I write whatever goals I am interested in achieving. Then I go to “The Notebook” and write all that I desire to accomplish during the day. It can be anything from journal writing, Facebook, writing my blog, posting my blog, emails, food shopping, bills, or banking. Then I check each one, as I accomplish said task.
At the end of the day, I go over the few and sometimes none at all with a yellow highlighter so that I carry those forward tomorrow. This form of writing keeps me responsible for myself every day and I found it extremely beneficial. When you think in your head about what you want to do it slips out of your mind and disappears.
“Meditation can help us embrace our worries, our fear, our anger; and that is very healing. We let our own natural capacity of healing do the work…” -Thich Nhat Hanh
Late in life, I discovered the true power of this last golden rule that I practice diligently. Meditation has healed me in many ways. I am now calm, filled with inner peace and in harmony while experiencing fun. I accept that there is a plan as well as searching for a better way to live my life.
My teacher, Deborah King states, “Meditation will help you tune into your waking life in a way you never thought you could experience. Yourconsciousness will expand. You will be able to tap into the universal energy that will assist you in healing yourself and your life. Meditation paves the way for emotional healing. On an energetic level, meditation will assist you in removing any blockages that come from holding onto anger and resentment. Meditation ushers in what may be the most important part of the energy healing process, forgiveness.”
I have found that I am loving life. I am blessed by the power of connecting to Mother Nature, my daily prayers, taking pen to paper, and of course daily sitting in silence twice a day for twenty minutes in meditation. There is a deep power that I am gifted by the silence of life in the twenty minutes I sit whether it is inside or outside, under a tree, at a waterfall or just in my backyard. I feel energized at times as well when in the middle of the day I choose to do my meditation practice.
I hope that you will pick one of these golden rules to start a journey in changing your life if you are having difficulty. Pick one for one week and then pick another to delve into the following week and so on. Remember consistency and staying focused daily is the most important on the path to follow these golden rules for personal growth, stimulation, and self-mastery.
